Separate load switching from protection
A contactor switches a load repeatedly under a control signal. It is not a substitute for the complete overload and short-circuit protection arrangement. Purchasing teams should identify the switching function before comparing brands or frame sizes: a motor, heater and capacitor bank can place different demands on the contacts.
Match the duty, not just the current
Record the utilization category and rating at the actual operating voltage. AC-3 ratings are used for common cage-motor starting and stopping duties; frequent jogging or reversing needs its own assessment. Supply the motor nameplate, starting method and expected switching frequency so the technical team can verify the proposed device.
Coil voltage is a separate specification
The power-circuit voltage and control-coil voltage are different fields. Specify AC or DC, nominal control voltage and frequency where applicable. Similar catalog numbers can identify different coils. Include any required suppression module, auxiliary contacts and mechanical interlock; these accessories also need compatible references.
Replacing an installed contactor
Check the terminal arrangement, physical space, mounting and auxiliary-contact functions. For reversing or star-delta assemblies, submit the complete assembly references. A visually similar contactor can change the wiring or interlock arrangement. Request a dimensional drawing and exact manufacturer datasheet before accepting an alternative.
Send a quotation request
Include SKU, quantity, motor voltage and current, coil supply, contact arrangement, duty and delivery country. Specify whether auxiliary blocks are already installed or must be supplied. This information helps distinguish a bare contactor quotation from a usable replacement assembly.
